A client saw a Rogue on a beach, bought the plans, then worked out that a sail-and-oar boat would not get him to his fishing grounds along Wellington's hard, windy coast fast enough. He described himself as not as young as he was, with arthritis that rules out a cold cramped seat for long, so Rifleman was drawn from a blank sheet as an outboard planing hull that keeps what he liked about Rogue: the unusual lightness and the ease of handling that comes with it, the practical interior, the simple build, and the lapstrake sides.
A 14 ft 9 in lightweight runabout with lapstrake sides and classical looks, drawn after a customer saw the sailing dinghy Rogue on a beach and wanted a powered boat with the same lines. About 90 kg bare, up to 25 knots on 7.5 to 20 hp.
