10' 2" Lawton Tender
Designed by Charles Lawton (original lines); adapted for strip building by Newfound Woodworks
A 10 ft 2 in yacht tender and small rowboat from Newfound Woodworks, adapted for cedar-strip construction from the Charles Lawton tender lines published in John Gardner's Building Classic Small Craft. About 70 lb with a 45 in beam and a rated capacity of 575 lb, it is meant to row and tow well, carry a load, or serve as a small fishing boat. Sold as plans or a full kit with CNC-cut forms.
A short hull, but the transom, thwarts, stern seat and bright finish add work beyond the stripping. Newfound suggests its rowboat Pre-Kit of book and DVDs for anyone new to strip building. As a rule of thumb, budget 200 to 300 hours. Real hours from logged builds are below.

Medians from the build logs kept on this site, not the designer’s estimate. Nobody has logged this boat here yet, so they are empty until the first builder does.
Those medians firm up as more people log this boat.
