16' 8" Whitehall Pulling Boat
Designed by Newfound Woodworks
A 16 ft 8 in Whitehall pulling boat from Newfound Woodworks, a cedar-strip version of the traditional New England harbor rowing boat. It has a skeg and a wineglass transom, a 42 in beam, a weight of about 113 lb and 725 lb capacity. Two rowing stations let it be pulled solo or in tandem, and it is a little narrower than the company's Rangeley.
The wineglass transom adds shaping work beyond a plain canoe hull, so previous strip experience is a help. Thwarts, stern seat and trim follow. As a rule of thumb, budget 300 to 450 hours. Measured medians from build logs appear below.
