18.5 ft Shallow V 550
Designed by Response Marine
An 18 ft 5 in by 7 ft 1.5 in shallow vee built first by Winninghoff Boats to carry crabs across shallow bays and over a very shoal bar. Deadrise is only 11 degrees at the transom, which keeps the draft down and the cargo capacity up, but the forward sections sharpen to 47 degrees at the cutwater so she is not miserable in a chop.
Instead of a single centerline skeg she has a pair of bilge skegs, which help tracking without adding as much draft. The bottom is 0.190 in plate with external channels, sides carry split-pipe strakes, and the bare hull weighs about 1,480 lb, or around 1,850 lb rigged with a 50 hp outboard. The kit is the standard Response one-hull licence for NC cutting files, drawings and stock and parts lists.
