Carolina Bay 17
Designed by Salt Boatworks
The cold-molded sister of the Flats River Skiff 16, dressed up with a Carolina flared bow and a rounded transom. She is 17 ft by 6 ft 6 in and laid out as a true flats boat, with flush decks fore and aft over storage for fuel, battery and gear, and a center or side console for a 50 to 70 hp outboard.
Hull draft is about 9 in, capacity 1,100 lb or four people, and the quoted speeds are about 28 mph on 50 hp and 38 on 70. Unlike the stitch-and-glue skiffs, she is built cold molded over a plywood jig, with quarter-inch bottom and thinner side skins cut to fit and glassed in epoxy, so the designers recommend previous building or woodworking experience. Plans give full-size jig patterns, or the jig kit supplies the parts CNC cut.

Those medians firm up as more people log this boat.
