Crossover

Designed by Spirited Designs

CrossOver is Spirited's motor sailer, a cruising catamaran based on the Spirited 380 hull but with modified aft sections that let it run like a semi-displacement power boat. The thinking is that cruisers on a schedule cannot always wait for wind, so the rig is cut down to reduce windage and ease handling, and twin 75 hp shaft drive diesels supply the speed when sailing does not suit.

Interior volume matches the 380, with two mirrored queen cabins forward, a self contained double aft and a saloon with a row of vertical windows below the main ones. Steering is central with all lines led there, and saildrive installations are an alternative. It comes as a DIY kit in DuFLEX balsa or foam, or plain foam, and the plans can be bought on their own.
