Plywood Rowboat

Designed by Vintage Projects

An 11 ft rowboat cut from a single sheet of plywood, from a vintage article that put the cost at 35 dollars and the time at a weekend or two. Apart from the transom there are no ribs at all, and the article makes a point of listing everything you will not need: no lofting, jigs, full-size layout or fussy angles. You work directly with the planking from start to finish.

Generous flare is meant to keep it from tipping, and the article says it rows well, will take some chop, can carry four people and planes like a runabout on a 3 to 5 hp outboard. One person can lift it onto a car. The original used Weldwood marine plywood. The free download also includes a second, more traditional 12 ft rowboat with four seats.
