Wee Hunk

Designed by Glen-L Marine

A 16 ft stitch-and-glue power dory with a center console from Glen-L Marine, patterned on the Pacific working dories. The flared, upswept bow gives a dry and stable boat that will carry about 1,450 lb on 6 in of draft, and it takes an outboard up to 40 hp. Full-size patterns cover nearly every part including the planking, which is assembled flat and bent around a single form. Glen-L publish a beam of 6 ft 7 in and a hull depth of 24 in.

The bare hull comes out at about 380 lb. They put the usual load at 2 to 4 people. The hull is a flat bottom power dory developed for stitch and glue sheet plywood construction. They draw a matching trailer for her. A good first powerboat, with no complex jig and few fasteners. Budget roughly 150 to 300 hours. Glen-L sells stitch-and-glue and fiberglass kits.
