Corsair 13

Designed by Jacques Mertens

A 12 ft 10 in sailing dinghy by Jacques Mertens of Bateau for two or three people, light enough to sail solo. Main, jib and spinnaker total 102 sq ft of working sail, and hiking straps, a tiller extension and a trapeze can be added for experienced crews. Beam is 5 ft 3 in and the hull is designed at about 150 lb. It is the larger sister of the Corsair 11.

Plywood cored epoxy composite built stitch and glue by the sharpie method and suitable for a first-time builder. The designer's figure is about 30 hours for hull, deck and seats plus 40 hours for foils and spars; a carbon mast option asks for more skill. Measured medians from build logs appear below.
