Golden Bay Setnet

A friend of many years finally finished his house renovations and asked for a car-toppable sailing flattie of graceful shape for the estuary where the family holidays. The constraint was the car: a compact Japanese saloon already carrying four adults and their gear, which still had to carry the same four safely on the water. Performance was not asked for and she has it anyway, the high power-to-weight ratio and long slippery waterline making her lively with one aboard and adequate with a full load.
A 12 ft 9 in flat-bottomed skiff drawn in two versions from one set of plans: a working boat for setting nets, and a sailing version carrying 66 sq ft. Light at 43 kg on a 4 ft 4 in beam, and quick to build.
