Flat Skiff 12

An 11 ft 7 in flat-bottomed skiff by Jacques Mertens of Bateau, for oars or an outboard up to 5 hp. The designer calls the Flat Skiff probably the easiest boat to build in the whole catalog, and notes it is not the smallest. Beam is 4 ft and designed weight about 95 lb. The Fast Skiff 12 is the vee-bottomed planing version, and a CNC kit is offered.

Stitch and glue plywood with simple butt blocks in place of scarfs, side panels and frames from full-size patterns, and no woodworking skill or special tools assumed. The designer's figure is about 20 hours for the hull, so budget 30 to 60 hours with finishing. Real hours from logged builds are below.
