Pontooner
Designed by Grandpa's Archive
The Family-Sized Planing Pontooner is William D. Jackson's Craft Print Project No. 312: 11 ft 7 in long, 7 ft 11 in wide so it can be trailered, 500 lb, with 80 sq ft of deck. It was rated for 800 lb and tested with 1,500 lb, and Jackson claimed it would plane at 14 mph with an 18 hp motor and do 10 mph with only 3 hp.
The pontoons have a pyramid cross section of 1/4 in plywood over lumber framing and the platform is 3/4 in plywood, all fiberglassed; pontoons, platform and awning frame come apart for winter storage. Jackson put the home-built cost at $90 to $100. Photographs show it set up for barbecues, fishing and sun bathing.
What building a Pontooner actually takes
Medians from the build logs kept on this site, not the designer’s estimate. Nobody has logged this boat here yet, so they are empty until the first builder does.
Those medians firm up as more people log this boat.

If you are building one, yours becomes the reference: the page the next person building this boat finds when they search for it. One photo and one line is a valid first entry.
