Quattro 14
Designed by Richard Woods
A 4.3 m (14 ft) single-trapeze racing beach catamaran by Richard Woods of Woods Designs, also sold by Bateau. The hull shape follows the Pixie but adds small skegs for windward work, a larger and more sophisticated rig and a trapeze. Aluminum tube crossbeams bolt through the hulls for stiffness. Beam is 2.1 m and weight about 190 lb. It is meant for racing singlehanded on the wire or with two light crew.
The hulls are stitch and glue from six sheets of 4 mm plywood, within reach of a careful first-time builder. The study plans say the boat can be completed in about 80 hours; allowing for rig and fit-out, budget 80 to 160. The medians below come from builders who logged this boat here.
