Zeta 14

Designed by Richard Woods

A 4.3 m (14 ft) singlehanded sailing trimaran by Richard Woods of Woods Designs, also sold by Bateau. Woods describes it as a fast boat drawn to be as simple and quick to build as possible. The hard-chine main hull is related to his Zest and Duo dinghies, and the small vee outriggers are meant to fly clear of the water while an active crew balances the boat. Overall beam is 3.4 m, weight about 200 lb and sail area 100 sq ft.

Stitch and glue from about seven sheets of thin plywood with glass tape, within reach of a first-time builder who is comfortable sailing a lively boat. No hours are published; with three hulls to make, budget 150 to 300. Real hours from logged builds are below.
