Skoota 28
Designed by Jacques Mertens
An 8.5 m (27 ft 10 in) demountable cabin power catamaran by Richard Woods of Woods Designs, also sold by Bateau. Woods reports living aboard his own, two up, for weeks at a time. It won Most Interesting Boat at the 2013 Vancouver Wooden Boat Show. Beam is 4.2 m, headroom 6 ft 2 in, empty weight about 4,000 lb, and power twin outboards of 20 to 60 hp. It comes apart for towing, and a 30 ft hull option exists.
Construction is plywood and epoxy with glass sheathing; the designer's material list runs to 85 sheets of plywood and 36 gallons of epoxy, a large project for an experienced amateur. No hours are published; budget 2,000 to 3,500. The medians below come from builders who logged this boat here.
