Design
Amanda
Designed by Graham Byrnes
A 12 ft sail, row and motor skiff drawn by Graham Byrnes of B&B Yacht Designs for the 2011 WoodenBoat Show family boatbuilding event at Mystic. Stitch and glue plywood using B&B's interlocking gear chine joint, about 150 lb, with a 68 sq ft balanced lug on an aluminum tube mast, full-length seat tanks for capsize recovery and room for a 2 to 6 hp outboard. Maximum capacity is 600 lb. Plans and a CNC plywood kit are both offered.
Designed so that families could assemble one at a show, it suits a first-time builder, and the kit arrives with finger scarfs and stitching holes already cut. As a rule of thumb budget 80 to 150 hours, less from the kit. Real hours from logged builds are below.
What building a Amanda actually takes
Medians from the build logs kept on this site, not the designer’s estimate. Nobody has logged this boat here yet, so they are empty until the first builder does.
Those medians firm up as more people log this boat.
