Bay River Skiff
Designed by Graham Byrnes
An open cat ketch skiff by Graham Byrnes of B&B Yacht Designs, sold as plans in 15 ft and 17 ft versions. The Bay River Skiff 17 is 17 ft by 5 ft 4 1/2 in, carries 114 sq ft of sail, weighs 360 to 410 lb and draws 6 1/2 in with the board up. B&B describes it as a utility boat for protected water that sails, rows and motors, and that sleeps two under a tent on raised floorboards.
Construction is plywood and epoxy, and the plans give a choice of taped seams or chine logs plus two interiors. The designer calls it slightly easier and cheaper to build than the Core Sound 17. Budget roughly 300 to 600 hours. Measured medians from build logs appear below.
What building a Bay River Skiff actually takes
Medians from the build logs kept on this site, not the designer’s estimate. Nobody has logged this boat here yet, so they are empty until the first builder does.
Those medians firm up as more people log this boat.
