Tramp
Designed by Grandpa's Archive
Tramp is a 15 ft sailing knockabout built in plywood, from a vintage magazine plan. She is a hard-chine centerboarder with a decked bow and side decks, and the article presents her as a trim, straightforward boat for the amateur.
The side planks are joined with glued and screwed butt straps, the stem is beveled to the sheer, and the hull goes together upside down over forms that can be made from scrap; a confident builder can skip the forms and use permanent beveled frames instead. White lead and cotton go into the joints at stem and transom, chines and deck battens are screwed on from outside, and a keel batten slotted for the centerboard runs the length of the bottom. The deck camber is given as 2 1/4 in in 5 ft 8 in. The materials list covers rigging and fittings.
What building a Tramp actually takes
Medians from the build logs kept on this site, not the designer’s estimate. Nobody has logged this boat here yet, so they are empty until the first builder does.
Those medians firm up as more people log this boat.
