Moccasin Double Canoe
Designed by Graham Byrnes
A 15 ft 6 in tandem canoe by Graham Byrnes of B&B Yacht Designs, also called the Moccasin 2. It is 36 in at maximum beam and 33 in on the waterline, weighs about 47 lb and carries two adults with their gear. It has been used at B&B family boatbuilding events. Plans come printed or as an instant download, and B&B asks builders to get in touch for kit pricing.
Like the solo Moccasins, the hull is folded from plywood panels and then stitched and glued. Shapes are measured and marked from the plans, which do not include full-size templates. B&B recommends its canoes as first projects. Budget 70 to 120 hours as a rule of thumb. Real hours from logged builds are below.
What building a Moccasin Double Canoe actually takes
Medians from the build logs kept on this site, not the designer’s estimate. Nobody has logged this boat here yet, so they are empty until the first builder does.
Those medians firm up as more people log this boat.
