15' 6" Voyager
Designed by Newfound Woodworks
A 15 ft 6 in solo tripping canoe from Newfound Woodworks, built in cedar strip. About 42 lb, 29.75 in beam, 375 lb capacity and only a quarter inch of rocker, so it is fast and holds a course with a load of gear. The hull is asymmetrical with plenty of tumblehome to keep the paddle stroke close, and the recurved stems are kept low to stay out of the wind. It is meant for ponds, quick water and big windy lakes.
A straightforward open-canoe strip build, though the tumblehome asks for some care when stripping. Kits include CNC-cut forms with clamping grooves. As a rule of thumb, budget 150 to 250 hours. The medians below come from builders who logged this boat here.
