Driade
Designed by Paolo Lodigiani and Matteo Costa
Not really a canoe but a rowing boat, drawn for anyone who wants to train at sculling without the length and difficulty of a proper racing skiff. She keeps the sliding seat and outriggers of one, and adds the advantage of fitting on the roof of an ordinary car. She is stable enough to be used for pleasure, which was not the point of her, and while she is not as fast as a real racing shell, the fine lines and light weight make her far quicker than an ordinary rowing boat of the same length.
Not quite a canoe: a 4.44 m sculling boat for somebody who wants to train at rowing in something simpler, handier and cheaper than a full length racing skiff. Offered chined in stitch and glue or round hulled in strip planking.
