Duckling 14 Rower
Designed by Sam Devlin
A 14 ft 4 in rowing boat by Sam Devlin, first built as the tender carried on the housetop of a customer's Devlin Sockeye 45. The shapely hull is made from just six plywood panels and was set up to take a drop-in sliding seat rig. She rows well solo or with crew and will carry a passenger in the stern. Displacement is 268 lb on a 3 ft 5 in beam. The same hull is sold with a sprit sail as the Duckling 14 Sail.
Few parts and stitch and glue construction make this a sound first boat. Budget 60 to 120 hours as a rule of thumb. Real hours from logged builds are below.
What building a Duckling 14 Rower actually takes
Medians from the build logs kept on this site, not the designer’s estimate. Nobody has logged this boat here yet, so they are empty until the first builder does.
Those medians firm up as more people log this boat.
