RoG 15 Micro-cruiser
Designed by Bedard Yacht Design
RoG, short for River of Grass, is a 15 ft micro expedition cruiser that Bedard Yacht Design drew to raid class rules: draw 8 in or less, row well and launch off a beach without help. She sleeps two for a weekend or one sailor for up to five days, completed the Everglades Challenge in 2017, 2018 and 2019, taking first in class in 2019, and was named 2021 trailerable sailboat of the year by Voile Magazine.
The chined plywood hull is slab sided and blunt nosed on purpose, for stability. She carries 150 sq ft on a carbon cat ketch and combines a 100 lb swing keel with two 80 lb water ballast tanks that can be filled to suit the weather, for a range of positive stability past 100 degrees. Foam makes her unsinkable. The plans include thirteen large sheets and over 100 ft of full-size templates, and a wood components kit is available.
What building a RoG 15 Micro-cruiser actually takes
Medians from the build logs kept on this site, not the designer’s estimate. Nobody has logged this boat here yet, so they are empty until the first builder does.
Those medians firm up as more people log this boat.
