Bora Bora 28
Designed by Roberto Barros
B&G's cruising catamaran for the inexperienced amateur, intended to let someone with any background build a modern multihull on a modest budget. The two narrow hulls, each about 1.08 m wide, carry the accommodation, and the wide platform between them doubles as a sun deck; overall beam is about 5 m and light displacement 1,100 kg.
Construction is plywood covered in glass. Centreboards let her draw as little as 0.28 m, and with the boards, the rudders and high aspect sails the designers claim better than average windward ability, adding that the relatively narrow mainsail makes her less prone to broaching, the situation they consider most dangerous in a multihull. The plan set covers full size patterns, lines, rig, interior and deck, structure, sections with plywood cutouts, the boards and rudders, and the stem and forestay fittings.
What building a Bora Bora 28 actually takes
Medians from the build logs kept on this site, not the designer’s estimate. Nobody has logged this boat here yet, so they are empty until the first builder does.
Those medians firm up as more people log this boat.
