Tropic 14
Designed by Mark Bowdidge
A 4.26 m family and multi-species fishing boat by Mark Bowdidge of Bowdidge Marine Designs, Australia. The designer stresses that she has a modified-vee hull with 7 degrees of deadrise and a flared bow, not a flat bottom, combined with a wide 1.88 m beam and about 150 mm of draft. She is tiller steered, with wheel steering optional, takes up to 40 hp on a long shaft and uses a 25 litre portable tank. Trailer weight with motor is put at about 312 kg.
The interior layout is left open to the builder. Construction is plywood with epoxy and fibreglass from 11 plan sheets. Suits a first-time builder. With no designer hours, allow 200 to 350. The medians below come from builders who logged this boat here.
What building a Tropic 14 actually takes
Medians from the build logs kept on this site, not the designer’s estimate. Nobody has logged this boat here yet, so they are empty until the first builder does.
Those medians firm up as more people log this boat.
