Candlefish 16
Designed by Sam Devlin
A 16 ft 2 in tiller-steered outboard fishing and utility skiff by Sam Devlin, drawn deep and seaworthy for the tides and changeable weather of Puget Sound yet light enough to beach launch. Chesapeake Light Craft sells plywood kits in open and bridgedeck layouts, and the plans come from Devlin. Beam is 82 in, draft 7.5 in, dry weight about 630 lb in 9 mm plywood, and the page says it performs well with 10 to 50 hp.
Stitch-and-glue from traditional plans, finished anywhere from workboat plain to showpiece. CLC rates it advanced and estimates 300 hours. Real hours from logged builds are below.
What building a Candlefish 16 actually takes
Medians from the build logs kept on this site, not the designer’s estimate. Nobody has logged this boat here yet, so they are empty until the first builder does.
Those medians firm up as more people log this boat.
