Chesapeake Sport Tandem
Designed by Chesapeake Light Craft
A 21 ft 8 in racing and fast-touring double kayak from Chesapeake Light Craft, introduced in 2002. At only 22 in wide it is aimed at athletic pairs, yet it carries 475 lb, enough gear for unsupported events such as the WaterTribe Everglades Challenge. Hull weight is about 65 lb and combined paddler weight 250 to 400 lb. Construction is stitch-and-glue plywood, and CLC sells kits and plans.
CLC lists it as a beginner build with its standard Chesapeake estimate of 80 hours, 40 to 50 of them on the hull; a hull this long may take somewhat more. The medians below come from builders who logged this boat here.
What building a Chesapeake Sport Tandem actually takes
Medians from the build logs kept on this site, not the designer’s estimate. Nobody has logged this boat here yet, so they are empty until the first builder does.
Those medians firm up as more people log this boat.
