Chesapeake Triple
Designed by Chesapeake Light Craft
A 21 ft three-cockpit touring kayak from Chesapeake Light Craft on the same 30 in wide hull as the Chesapeake Double. It weighs about 68 lb and carries 700 lb. CLC finds most owners use the centre cockpit for children, a dog or gear under a cover, and notes it is too big to paddle alone except in a calm. It also serves as a base for the CLC SailRig. Kits and plans are sold.
Stitch-and-glue in 4 mm okoume, glassed inside and out. CLC grades it a beginner build and gives its series estimate of 80 hours, which a 21 ft boat may exceed. Measured medians from build logs appear below.
What building a Chesapeake Triple actually takes
Medians from the build logs kept on this site, not the designer’s estimate. Nobody has logged this boat here yet, so they are empty until the first builder does.
Those medians firm up as more people log this boat.
