Lake Union Swift
Designed by John C. Harris
A 10 ft lapstrake sailing dinghy by John C. Harris of Chesapeake Light Craft, sharing the hull of CLC's Tenderly tender but decked and fitted out as a pure sailboat. The prototype was called the Tenderly XP; the Center for Wooden Boats in Seattle, which is building a fleet for sail training on Lake Union, gave it its name. It has full-length bench seats enclosing flotation, a pivoting centerboard, 52 in beam, a 150 lb hull and 78 sq ft in the sloop rig. The Tenderly lug rig also fits the same mast step.
Sold as plans or a CLC Pro-Kit, meant for people who have already built a few stitch-and-glue boats and can read plans. CLC estimates 160 hours. Real hours from logged builds are below.
What building a Lake Union Swift actually takes
Medians from the build logs kept on this site, not the designer’s estimate. Nobody has logged this boat here yet, so they are empty until the first builder does.
Those medians firm up as more people log this boat.
