Skerry Raid (Expedition Skerry)

A 14 ft 11 in decked expedition version of the Chesapeake Light Craft Skerry, modified by John C. Harris for photographer John Guider, who rowed and sailed the first one more than 6,000 miles around the Great Loop. It is 6 in wider than the stock boat at 60 in, with watertight stowage fore and aft, a pivoting centerboard and a 73 sq ft balanced lug. Hull weight is about 140 lb and payload 500 lb. A base kit and full-size plans are sold.
CLC lists it as a Pro Kit still in beta, without a step-by-step manual, suited to a patient builder with some epoxy and fiberglass experience. CLC estimates 200 hours; budget 200 to 300. Real hours from logged builds are below.
