Waterlust Sailing Canoe
Designed by Dillon Majoros
A 17 ft sailing canoe drawn by Dillon Majoros of Chesapeake Light Craft for the Waterlust film team, who took a pair 1,000 miles down the Intracoastal Waterway from Norfolk to Miami in 2016. Modelled on 19th-century canoe yawls with fuller ends, it has a 36 in beam, an 80 sq ft lug yawl rig, watertight compartments, a cockpit one adult can sleep in, and a trunk for a Hobie Mirage pedal drive. Rigged weight is about 115 lb. Kits and full-size plans are sold.
Built by CLC's LapStitch stitch-and-glue process from a 28-page guide, and recommended for people who have built this way before. CLC estimates 160 hours on that basis; budget 180 to 300. Measured medians from build logs appear below.
What building a Waterlust Sailing Canoe actually takes
Medians from the build logs kept on this site, not the designer’s estimate. Nobody has logged this boat here yet, so they are empty until the first builder does.
Those medians firm up as more people log this boat.
