Oolichan 13
Designed by Sam Devlin
A 13 ft 2 in outboard skiff by Sam Devlin, developed from his Candlefish line but much wider and more stable, so it carries more power and speed. Stitch and glue plywood, about 278 lb dry, 650 lb useful load, and up to a 30 hp long-shaft outboard for around 30 mph lightly loaded. It comes as an open skiff with side benches and a clear centre walkway, or with a lockable bridgedeck that can extend forward as a casting platform. A keel and bilge keels protect the bottom on the beach.
A small, open hull that suits a first-time builder, and a CNC cut hull kit is offered. Budget 120 to 220 hours as a rule of thumb. The medians below come from builders who logged this boat here.
What building a Oolichan 13 actually takes
Medians from the build logs kept on this site, not the designer’s estimate. Nobody has logged this boat here yet, so they are empty until the first builder does.
Those medians firm up as more people log this boat.
