Amp Eater
Designed by Glen-L Marine
A 13 ft 4 in electric boat from Glen-L Marine, a stitch-and-glue vee-bottomed hull with minimal wake, a tiller-steered aft helm, dial speed control and a toggle for forward and reverse. A half to one horsepower DC motor on 24 to 36 volts drives the shaft through vee belts at about 5.5 mph for 8 to 10 hours. Glen-L publish a beam of 5 ft 2 in.
They put the usual load at 2 to 4 people. Displacement is 1012 lb. The hull is a vee bottom, developed for sheet plywood planking, assembled by the Stitch-N-Glue method. They draw a matching trailer for her. An easy stitch-and-glue hull plus a modest drive installation. Budget 150 to 300 hours. Measured medians from logged builds appear below.
