Oysta 52
Designed by Sam Devlin
A 52 ft long-distance trawler concept that Sam Devlin was developing in spring 2008 for a customer who wanted to make passages in any waters at any season, high latitudes included. A crew of two should be able to handle it while carrying several passengers in comfort. The hull is described as an enlarged, deeper and heavier Sockeye 45 type with the same fantail stern, a medium-sized pilothouse set well aft with a flying bridge, and the galley below in the forecastle.
The page presents it as a design still in progress, with no specification table and no plans listed for sale. A vessel of this size is a shipyard-scale project, and any realistic estimate runs well beyond 10,000 hours. Real hours from logged builds are below.
What building a Oysta 52 actually takes
Medians from the build logs kept on this site, not the designer’s estimate. Nobody has logged this boat here yet, so they are empty until the first builder does.
Those medians firm up as more people log this boat.
