Designed by Dudley Dix
A 19 ft 8 in (6.0 m) trailable plywood trimaran by Dudley Dix, a minimum weekend cruiser for relatively protected water. Main hull and amas are multi-chine stitch and glue plywood. Sailing beam is 5 m and trailing beam 2.44 m, using either a folding system on round aluminum beams or cheaper demountable wooden box beams. It has a fractional sloop rig with twin leeboards and family berths, and weighs about 450 kg. A Russian builder reported speeds over 20 knots.
The plywood work suits an amateur with some experience, while the aluminum folding gear adds cost and metalwork, and the designer notes its principles were untested when drawn. Budget 1,200 to 2,000 hours. Real hours from logged builds are below.
