20 ft Trimaran
Designed by Grandpa's Archive
A 20 ft day-sailing trimaran credited to Commodore Victor Tchetchet of the International Multihulled Boat Racing Association, one of the early promoters of the type. The article claims speeds up to 22 mph in a strong wind and says the outrigger floats make a capsize next to impossible, while still telling readers to keep her to protected waters.
The main hull and floats are 1/4 in waterproof plywood over twenty frames spaced 12 in apart, with a plywood centerboard, a lightweight aluminum boom and cable stays. Photographs show the netting between hulls and a bracket for mounting an outboard beside the main hull. A table of offsets and frame layouts are included in the scan.
What building a 20 ft Trimaran actually takes
Medians from the build logs kept on this site, not the designer’s estimate. Nobody has logged this boat here yet, so they are empty until the first builder does.
Those medians firm up as more people log this boat.
