Hot Rod
Designed by Glen-L Marine
A 16 ft 6 in vee-drive speed and ski boat from Glen-L Marine with a string of competition successes, tough enough to keep coming back, and an excellent ski boat. Vee-bottomed sheet plywood, about 600 lb; inboard under 800 lb on a vee drive. Not for rough water.
Designed for speed but also, Glen-L says, for ease of building by the amateur. Budget 400 to 700 hours. Real hours from logged builds show below.
What building a Hot Rod actually takes
Medians from the build logs kept on this site, not the designer’s estimate. Nobody has logged this boat here yet, so they are empty until the first builder does.
Those medians firm up as more people log this boat.
