L Gato
Designed by Glen-L Marine
An 11 ft 11 in plywood sailing catamaran from Glen-L Marine, cat-rigged with twin daggerboards, that breaks down into two hulls and a cockpit tray for car-topping. Each hull is planked in one continuous sheet of 5 mm or quarter-inch plywood, three sheets in all, and builders report it out-sailing a well-known production cat in a breeze.
A quick, cheap hull build; the rig and the tray are the rest of it. Allow 120 to 200 hours. Glen-L sells hardware, rigging and sail kits. Medians from build logs show below.
What building a L Gato actually takes
Medians from the build logs kept on this site, not the designer’s estimate. Nobody has logged this boat here yet, so they are empty until the first builder does.
Those medians firm up as more people log this boat.
