Bayou Belle Houseboat
Designed by Grandpa's Archive
Bayou Belle is a 25 ft 8 in scow with a beam just under 8 ft, offered in three versions on one hull: a houseboat with a full cabin, an open fisherman's boat, and a sun lounge sports utility for towing skiers and cruising. The specifications give a 1500 lb bare hull, 3000 lb capacity and power up to twin outboards totaling 160 hp.
The hull is built in prefabricated sections so much of the work can be done in a garage over winter and joined outside for a spring launch. Framing is ordinary fir, pine or hemlock; the bottom is 3/8 in five-ply plywood and the sides and deck three-ply, with plastic-surfaced plywood suggested for a better finish.
What building a Bayou Belle Houseboat actually takes
Medians from the build logs kept on this site, not the designer’s estimate. Nobody has logged this boat here yet, so they are empty until the first builder does.
Those medians firm up as more people log this boat.
