Kick Catamaran
Designed by Grandpa's Archive
A foot-powered catamaran from a vintage how-to annual. The skipper lies on the deck with his feet in toe clips on a pair of hinged paddles that push on the stroke and swing free on the return, and steers with a forward rudder. With the paddles tied up, a mast stepped and a tiller fitted, the same boat sails.
The pontoons are planked in lumber nailed closely and caulked with cotton tape in glue or white lead, with a plywood centerboard on the inside of each hull. Arched, half-lapped cross members carry a deck of the same material. The article also suggests it as a diving platform or a mount for a small outboard. A two-page piece rather than a full plan, and free.
What building a Kick Catamaran actually takes
Medians from the build logs kept on this site, not the designer’s estimate. Nobody has logged this boat here yet, so they are empty until the first builder does.
Those medians firm up as more people log this boat.
