Welsford sold his own rowing boat in mid-November and found himself facing a summer with nothing to sail. Over one weekend he took stock of the timber on hand, measured the workshop and the garden trailer, counted the days to the two regattas in January, and drew a boat to fit all four. She had to tent and sleep two, be manageable single-handed by his wife or his twelve-year-old daughter, and still take two adults, a twelve-year-old and a three-year-old without the junior crew falling out with each other. The result is just over 13 ft and a notably wide 5 ft 10 in.

A 13 ft 2 in sailing dinghy with room to sleep two aboard or day sail four, which is a good deal more boat than the length suggests. Carries 115 sq ft on a 5 ft 10 in beam at 85 kg unrigged, and was drawn as the designer's own getaway boat.
