Lion 600
Designed by Unik Yachts
A 6 m trailerable centreboarder with high freeboard and a lot of volume for its length, laid out for four people cruising lakes and coastal waters. Headroom in the saloon is 1.5 m. There are settees each side of the centreboard case, which also supports a table that folds around it, a double berth forward and two more berths under the cockpit, and a galley with sink and gas stove on a sliding unit that tucks away under the cockpit.
Every structural part and all the planking is cut from flat sheets of marine plywood, nested for standard 1220 by 2440 mm sheets and cut by CNC. Parts are glued together on a flat base using slotted joints, so the boat can be built in a small space with ordinary hand tools. The rig is a 7/8 fractional sloop of 22 square metres, and the 250 kg dagger type ballast keel is steel, filled with ballast.
What building a Lion 600 actually takes
Medians from the build logs kept on this site, not the designer’s estimate. Nobody has logged this boat here yet, so they are empty until the first builder does.
Those medians firm up as more people log this boat.
