18' 5" Liz Pulling/Sculling Boat
Designed by Ken Bassett
An 18 ft 5 in pulling boat designed by Ken Bassett of Onion River Boatworks. Under his direction Newfound Woodworks converted the lapstrake plans to cedar strip, which it says saves about 30 lb. About 85 lb, 36 in beam, 550 lb capacity. Fitted with a Piantedosi Row Wing sliding-seat unit it gives a serious workout with far more stability than a shell, and it can carry a passenger. The Row Wing is not part of the kit.
A long, slender hull with fine ends, plus gunwales, bench seats and trim. Some strip experience is helpful; a Pre-Kit primer is available. As a rule of thumb, budget 280 to 420 hours. Real hours from logged builds are below.
