Expedition Wherry
Designed by John C. Harris
An 18 ft 3 in decked sliding-seat rowing boat by John C. Harris of Chesapeake Light Craft, meant for open water, cold conditions and camp cruising. The six-panel multi-chine hull is mostly 4 mm okoume glassed inside and out, 36 in wide and about 92 lb, with four watertight compartments reached through hatches and a 423 lb payload. It can be re-entered and bailed after a capsize. Kits and full-size plans are sold.
CLC grades it a beginner build despite an intricate computer-cut kit, and estimates 120 hours. Measured medians from build logs appear below.
What building a Expedition Wherry actually takes
Medians from the build logs kept on this site, not the designer’s estimate. Nobody has logged this boat here yet, so they are empty until the first builder does.
Those medians firm up as more people log this boat.
