Waterman 12

Designed by Paul Fisher

A 12 ft general-purpose and sailing canoe by Paul Fisher of Selway Fisher Design, drawn in 2001 by shortening his Waterman 13 so it could be built in two bolt-together halves and carried in a van. Beam is 35 1/2 in, dry weight about 50 lb and capacity about 650 lb, enough for two adults. As the client's first sailing boat it comes with leeboards, a rudder, side floats for stability and a choice of lateen, gunter, sprit and lug sail plans.

Stitch and tape, with a narrow flat bottom panel and three planks a side, from four sheets of 4, 5 or 6 mm plywood. Budget 60 to 120 hours, more with the full rig. The medians below come from builders who logged this boat here.
