Stow-Away 6.5
Designed by Spirited Designs
The smallest of the Stow-Away power and sail catamarans, at 6.5 m and inside legal towing width, and intended as a manageable first build. The semi-displacement hulls are designed to work under both sail and outboard, with a single swing centreboard for windward work; a 40 hp motor gives about 20 knots, and anything from 8 hp up will push her efficiently.
Two details set her apart. A pop-top cabin lifts on the main halyard to give standing headroom, and a section of each hull folds out at cockpit floor level to make a wider deck for swimming and diving. The hull bottoms are level and the rudders protected so she can be beached. She is built from DuFLEX or plain foam panels, with about 500 hours estimated to a basic finish.
What building a Stow-Away 6.5 actually takes
Medians from the build logs kept on this site, not the designer’s estimate. Nobody has logged this boat here yet, so they are empty until the first builder does.
Those medians firm up as more people log this boat.
