Wizard

Designed by Richard Woods

A 6.7 m (22 ft) folding trailable catamaran by Richard Woods of Woods Designs with a central cuddy. A lifting hatch and a pop-bottom in the bridgedeck give standing headroom at the galley. Five berths in three cabins including a true double, a separate toilet, 25.8 sq m of sail, about 800 kg empty. Standard hulls are strip cedar with plywood cuddy and cockpit, with foam sandwich or hard-chine plywood as alternatives. One person can unfold and rig it in under an hour.

The folding system and cuddy make this more involved than his open-deck trailables. Woods's minimum is 800 hours to a basic fit out ready to paint for a practised builder, so budget 1,000 to 1,600 for a first multihull. Real hours from logged builds are below.
