Takalak
Designed by Ray Klebba
A traditional style cedar strip canoe from Ray Klebba, spelled Takhlakh in the heading of its own design page. The published figures are short: 180 in (15 ft) long, 32 in in beam, 16 in high at bow and stern and 11 in deep at centre. The page tags her as traditional, superb material and flowing design, and shows a custom boat built by Klebba himself.
Beyond those numbers there is no description of her handling, weight or intended use, so the best guide is her proportions: a 15 ft hull with a fairly generous beam and modest depth points to a general purpose canoe for one or two on lakes and gentle rivers. White Salmon Boat Works lists plans, a basic kit and a complete kit, and its full size plan sets include strongback length, station spacing and rocker information.
What building a Takalak actually takes
Medians from the build logs kept on this site, not the designer’s estimate. Nobody has logged this boat here yet, so they are empty until the first builder does.
Those medians firm up as more people log this boat.
