All Water Fifteen
Designed by Ashes Still Water Boats
The middle of the All Water kayak range, 15 ft by 24 in, which Ashes sums up as a recreational boat with a touring kayak's lines and some playfulness mixed in. Chines run fore and aft of the cockpit, and with fairly flat central sections they give a novice a stable, predictable boat on flat water, while an experienced paddler can lean on them to carve and even catch a small wave.
Ashes is honest about the build. A kayak is harder than a canoe of the same length: the chines call for rolling bevels on the strips in places, and the builder has to make a cockpit riser and coaming, join the deck to the hull, and add hatches and bulkheads if wanted. None of that is beyond a careful novice. The plans give full size station, stem and part templates on 24 by 36 in sheets and a licence to build one boat, but no assembly instructions.
What building a All Water Fifteen actually takes
Medians from the build logs kept on this site, not the designer’s estimate. Nobody has logged this boat here yet, so they are empty until the first builder does.
Those medians firm up as more people log this boat.
