Eagle 24

Designed by Richard Woods

A 7.3 m (24 ft) open-deck trailable cruising catamaran from Richard Woods of Woods Designs, drawn for more room than Strider with an easier build. Hard-chine sheet plywood hulls are veed forward and flat aft so they stand unsupported. Beam 4.4 m, about 650 kg empty, 31.5 sq m of sail, two single berths in each hull and 1.7 m headroom. A solid cockpit floor, side-opening hatches, stock aluminium tube beams, and options for keels, a cuddy or a racing rig.

The page follows a first-time catamaran builder working inside his house. Woods gives no hours; his round-bilge Strider minimum is 550, and this is a bigger boat, so budget 800 to 1,400 as a rule of thumb. Real hours from logged builds are below.
